MBCC Official Criteria for Judging Eligibility

Judges' list candidates must be approved by the Club’s Committee or Judges Sub-Committee (containing at least 75% of persons who award Challenge Certificates in the Breed) and must qualify as follows:



The requirements are split into two main sections: Championship Show Lists (A1, A2, A3) and Open Show Lists. ** denotes KC Policy.

Championship Show Lists (A1, A2, A3)



A1 List





  1. Must have been previously approved by The Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates (CCs) in the breed




  2. Must have completed their first CC appointment




  3. Must have the support of the Midshires Bearded Collie Club

  1. Must fulfil all the requirements for the A3 List




  2. Must have been assessed in accordance with Kennel Club (KC) requirements




  3. Must be accepted by the KC for inclusion on an A2 list




  4. Must have the support of the Midshires Bearded Collie Club

A3 List - Breed Specialists


Candidates MUST fulfil core requirements 1 - 11:




  1. Minimum 7 years of judging experience in the breed and want the support of MBCC**




  2. Stewarded at 12 shows**




  3. Bred and/or owned a minimum of three Bearded Collies that obtained their 1st entry in The KC Stud Book (unless exceptional circumstances apply)**




  4. Judged a minimum of 120 Bearded Collies present in breed classes** (number is club optional)




  5. Attended a KC Accredited Seminar and passed the exam on KC Regulations and Judging Procedures**




  6. Attended a KC Accredited Seminar on Conformation and Movement**




  7. Attended a Movement and Conformation 'hands-on' Assessment (run by a KC accredited trainer) and passed the assessment**




  8. Attended at least one Bearded Collie breed-specific seminar and passed an exam/assessment where applicable**




  9. Been on the Midshires Bearded Collie Club, Southern Counties Bearded Collie Club, Eastern Bearded Collie Association, Northern Bearded Collie Club, Bearded Collie Club of Scotland, or Bearded Collie Club, Open Show Judges list for at least five years




  10. Judged the Breed at 8 Open Shows or Championship Shows (licensed by The Kennel Club or Scottish Kennel Club) without CCs, with an adequate geographical spread




  11. Judged a minimum of 50 Bearded Collie Breed Classes




  12. (Additional) Judged a Bearded Collie Breed Club Open show




  13. (Additional) Owned Bearded Collies for at least 10 years

A3 List - Non-Specialists


Candidates MUST fulfil 10 requirements:




  1. Minimum of 7 years judging experience in any one breed (including 5 years in Bearded Collies) and have the support of MBCC**




  2. Awarded Challenge Certificates in at least one other breed**




  3. Judged a minimum of 120 Bearded Collies present in breed classes** (number is club optional)




  4. Attended at least one Bearded Collie breed-specific seminar in accordance with the KC Code of Best Practice and passed an exam/assessment where applicable **




  5. Bred and/or owned either 1 British Champion or a minimum of five dogs of any breed that obtained their 1st entry in The KC Stud Book (unless exceptional circumstances apply)




  6. Been on the Midshires Bearded Collie Club; Southern Counties Bearded Collie Club, Northern Bearded Collie Club, Eastern Bearded Collie Club, Bearded Collie Club of Scotland, or Bearded Collie Club Open Show Judges list for at least three years




  7. Judged the Bearded Collies at 8 Open Shows or Championship Shows (licensed by The Kennel Club or Scottish Kennel Club) without CCs, with an adequate geographical spread




  8. Judged a minimum of 50 Bearded Collie breed classes




  9. Judged a Bearded Collie Breed Club Open show




  10. Exhibited dogs at KC licensed events for at least 10 years






Open Show List


Specialists


Candidates MUST fulfil requirements 1 and 2, and at least one other 3 or 4:




  1. Judged a minimum of 40 Bearded Collies present in breed classes in at least 6 KC Licensed Open shows (with a good geographical spread and last appointment within the last 2 years)




  2. Owned and exhibited Bearded Collies for at least 7 years




  3. Bred or qualified 2 or more Bearded Collies for the Kennel Club Stud Book




  4. Be on the Open Show judging list of any other Breed Club





Non-Specialists


Candidates MUST fulfil all requirements:




  1. Judged a minimum of 40 Bearded Collies present in breed classes in at least 6 KC Licensed Open Shows (with a good geographical spread and last appointment within the last 2 years)




  2. Bred or qualified 2 or more dogs for the Kennel Club Stud Book 




  3. Be on the Open Show judging list of any other breed club




  4. Owned and exhibited in any breed for at least 7 years
